My Six Favorite Movies Through the Decades (1930s-1980s)

  I am writing this post for the 6 Films 6 Decades Blogathon hosted by Classic Films & TV Cafe  https://www.classicfilmtvcafe.com/2021/03/6Films-6Decades-Blogathon.html    For the blogathon I am writing about a favorite movie from each decade 1930-1980. (I have so many favorite films, so this is only a list of some of my favorites.)     Shall We Dance (1937) with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Edward Everett Horton, and Eric Blore.  I know Shall We Dance is not one of Fred and Ginger's more popular films, but it's one of my favorites. I love the music, the dancing, the comedy, the fashions, and the Art Deco sets.       Road To Rio (1947) with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour.  This movie is just so hilarious. Bing and Bob break the forth wall multiple times. Swing Time (1936)

   This movie is a lot of fun.  John "Lucky" Garnett (Fred Astaire) is a gambling hoofer with "Pop" Cardetti's (Victor Moore) dance and magic act. He is engaged to Margret Watson (Betty Furness).  He misses his wedding when the other performers of the dance act play a trick on him to try to keep him from marrying and leaving the act.  His fiancee's father calls off the wedding when Lucky is late, but tells him that if goes to New York and makes $25,000 he can marry his daughter.  While hopping aboard a train to New York, Lucky looses his suitcase.  In New York, Lucky exchanges his lucky quarter for some change from Penelope "Penny" Carroll (Ginger Rogers) to buy a cigarette for his friend Pop.   Penny thinks that Lucky stole the quarter, due to a misunderstanding caused by Pop while he was trying to get Lucky's lucky quarter back.   Lucky learns that Penny is a dance instructor at a dancing school and gets a free lesson from ...
