Fashion Monday

 I have always been interested in fashion (especially vintage fashion), and I thought it would be fun to make a couple different blog posts each Monday, one to do with fashion in books, and the other on movies. I will probably just post pictures.

 The one on books I will post pictures of clothes from around the time period of when the book was written.  

 The one on movies I will post pictures of the hats they wear in the movie.

Thursday Movie Picks / Actors or Actresses Playing Themselves

 I am doing Thursday Movie Picks again.   It is hosted by Wandering through the Shelves .     The theme for Thursday this week is: Actors of Actresses Playing Themselves .   I had thought about writing about actors playing themselves in a main role, but I could only think of one movie, so I thought I would write about actors playing themselves in cameo roles. Dancing Lady (1933) ~ Fred Astaire  This movie is Fred Astaire's first film appearance, and the only time he played himself.  Angels in the Outfield (1951) ~ Bing Crosby   Bing Crosby who was a part owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, plays himself in a short cameo appearance. The Bellboy (1960) ~ Jerry Lewis Jerry Lewis plays himself in a cameo appearance... in a film were he also plays the main character.

The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca and The Swamp Fox

 My favorite TV series Disney made was their historical fiction shows in the 50s and 60s.  While Davey Crockett was probably their most famous historical show; Disney also made other shows such as; The Swamp Fox, Texas John Slaughter, and Elfego Baca.  For this post I'm going to be talking about the two shows I'm most familiar with, "The Swamp Fox" and "The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca." "The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca" (1958-1960)  Based on the true story of Elfego Baca, (played by Robert Loggia), this series is one of my favorite westerns.  The episodes were introduced by Walt Disney, and had a catchy theme song.  The pilot episode tells the true story of when Elfego Baca held of eighty cowboys who fired 4,00 bullets in to the shack he was holding up in; and he wasn't even wounded.  The series lasted for ten episodes, and most, if not all, of them can be found on YouTube.  "The Swamp Fox" (1959-1961)  Based on the true story story of Re...

Against the Crowd Blogathon 2021

 I am doing the Against the Crowd Blogathon hosted by Dell on the Movies , for the first time ever.  It is a blogathon where you write about a movie you hated that had a high rating according to Rotten Tomatoes; and a movie you loved that had a low rating.    The Princess Bride (1987)  To be honest the first 15 to 20 minutes is pretty funny, but this movie is a hour and ten  minutes too long.  The romance story is just dumb (like most of the movie), and not funny; and how was the torture scene even suppose to be funny?!  I really don't understand why people like this movie so much.    The Million Dollar Duck (1971)  Of course after talking about how dumb The Princess Bride was I'm going to talk about how I like a movie about a duck that starts laying eggs with a golden yolk, after eating some strangely made applesauce and getting accidentally zapped by radiation.   I guess this movie is also kind of dumb, but it is the k...
