 This month I am doing Inklings for the first time. It is a monthly prompt were you post a scene from a book or movie using the months prompt.

 Swing Time holds the distinction of being the only Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers film that has a scene with snow. 

 First when Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire sing "A Fine Romance;"





and then once again at the end with with snow falling while Fred and Ginger sing a reprise of "A Fine Romance" and "The Way You Look Tonight."

    I've only seen part of Swing Time, but it was this scene and I loved it! The winter fashion is darling and the song had me smiling the whole way through. Great pick!

  I am writing this post for The Umpteenth Blogathon Hosted by Essays from the Couch.   Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is classic musical about towns girl Millie (Jane Powell) who marries backwoodsman Adam Pontipee (Howard Keel) after a whirlwind courtship and goes to live with him and his six brothers on his farm.  Howard Keel sings "Bless Yore Beutiful Hide." Thursday Movie Picks / Oscar Winners: Best Original Score and Best Original Song

 I am doing Thursday Movie Picks for the first time ever.  It is hosted by Wandering through the Shelves .     The theme for Thursday this week is Oscar Winners: Best Original Score and Best Original Song .  Ideally I should of posted this on Thursday, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to write anything till now. Best Original Score  Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) I love the score for this movie. It's very lighthearted and fun, and it suits the movie perfectly. The Sound of Music (1965)  The score for this movie is very good. It's one of my favorites.  Chariots of Fire (1981)  I think the score is one of the things that really make this movie. I love it. It's very moving and very good.

Thursday Movie Picks / Actors or Actresses Playing Themselves

 I am doing Thursday Movie Picks again.   It is hosted by Wandering through the Shelves .     The theme for Thursday this week is: Actors of Actresses Playing Themselves .   I had thought about writing about actors playing themselves in a main role, but I could only think of one movie, so I thought I would write about actors playing themselves in cameo roles. Dancing Lady (1933) ~ Fred Astaire  This movie is Fred Astaire's first film appearance, and the only time he played himself.  Angels in the Outfield (1951) ~ Bing Crosby   Bing Crosby who was a part owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, plays himself in a short cameo appearance. The Bellboy (1960) ~ Jerry Lewis Jerry Lewis plays himself in a cameo appearance... in a film were he also plays the main character.
