My Ten Favorite Disney Movie Soundtracks

In my opinion one of the things that really makes a movie is the soundtrack, and I have always been a fan of the classic Disney soundtracks from the 60s-70s.

I'm not going to be counting Disney musicals in this list, and this list is in no particular order.

1. Candleshoe (1977)

Candleshoe's soundtrack by Ron Goodwin is probably one of my favorite soundtracks

You can listen to it on YouTube here: Candleshoe Soundtrack

2. Snowball Express (1972)

Robert F. Brunner composed the soundtrack to Snowball Express, and it's really good.

You can listen to a clip of it here: Snowball Express Skiing Scene

3. The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975)

If you feel like a western The Apple Dumpling Gang has a really fun score.

Buddy Baker composed it and Shane Tatum wrote the soundtrack.

You can listen to the theme song here: The Apple Dumpling Gang Theme Song.

4. Kidnapped (1960)

Cedric Thorpe Davie composed a rousing soundtrack for Kidnapped.

You can listen to the theme song here: Kidnapped Theme song

5. The Absent Minded Professor (1961)

George Bruns composed a very fun score for The Absent Minded Professor.

You can listen to the opening credits here: The Absent Minded Professor Opening Credits

6. The Strongest Man in the World (1975)

My favorite movie of the Dexter Riley series The Strongest Man in the World also has a really fun soundtrack composed by Robert F. Brunner.

You can listen to the opening theme song here: The Strongest Man in the World Theme Song

7. The Barefoot Executive (1971)

This movie has a fun soundtrack by Robert F. Brunner, and the coolest theme song by Bruce Belland and Robert F. Brunner.

You can listen to the opening theme song here: The Barefoot Executive Theme Song

 8. The Love Bug (1968)

With the soundtrack composed by George Bruns, The Love Bug, has probably one of the catchiest themes.

You can listen to a clip of it here:The Love Bug Taking Shortcuts, and you can listen to the theme song here: The Love Bug Theme Song

9. No Deposit, No Return (1976)

Composed by Buddy Baker, No Deposit, No Return has a cool jazzy soundtrack.

You can listen to the opening theme song here:No Deposit, No Return Theme Song

10. Hot Lead and Cold Feet (1978)

In one of the funniest westerns I've seen, Buddy Baker composed a very fun soundtrack with notes of "High Noon" during a duel.

Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn wrote the very cool theme song.

You can listen to the duel scene here: Hot Lead and Cold Feet Duel, and the theme song here: Hot Lead and Cold Feet Theme Song

  1. Now this is really interesting! I thought for sure that you were going to cover the Disney musicals (like Pete's Dragon) but how neat to see all of these favorites I grew up with! And what's shocking is I never paid attention to the soundtracks of these movies (the theme songs, yes, the soundtrack, no), so I will look into each one. If I remember, No Depost, No Return had a fun Mancini-esque caper sound to the music. The North Avenue Irregulars also had some nice tunes sprinkled in the movie. Actually, ALL of their films of the 1970s had great themes. Who can forget the opening to The Barefoot Executive with that spunky tune, "He's Goin' Make it". Thanks for sharing your favorites for the Disney Blogathon, Johanna!

  2. Nice! I like how outside-the-box your choices are. These scores are so integral to these movies it's hard to separate them.
